Monday Morning Mocca

It is no secret that my favourite way to start the day is Oats. I love them. I also cannot express how much I love coffee either. So the combination of the two literally makes me go all warm and fuzzy inside.
I decided that a Mocca style Porridge was the answer.

Breakfast is the set up for the day, it is the fuel that kick starts the metabolism and prepares us for what we have to do. So it needs to have a good nutritional value and full of complex carbs to slow release so we don’t get any nasty sugar crash or cravings mid morning. The thing I love about this breakfast is the oats provide an amazing source of beta-glucan which helps lower cholesterol, aid cardiovascular function and keep our immune system in full working order. I have layered this with Cacao Chia pudding to give the ‘Mocca’ taste. Raw Cacao (chocolate in its raw state) is full of antioxidants, it also has naturally occurring properties that can aid depression and stress – that ladies is enough to keep chocolate firmly in our diet alone! The Chia is an amazing plant protein and source of Omega 3. This Breakfast has it all!
 
Mocca Oats Recipe
 
The night before you need to prep your Chia –
I use one sachet of The Chia Company chia seeds
A tspn of Raw Cacao Powder (cocoa works fine but this is better)
Coconut Milk
Cinnamon & Truvia.
Pop all ingredients into a jar with a lid. Shake together and pop in the fridge.
 
Oats
1 cup Gluten Free Oats
1 espresso size strong brewed instant coffee
1/2 banana
Cinnamon
Coconut Milk
 
Start by popping your oats and coffee and sliced banana into a bowl, sprinkle cinnamon ontop and microwave on high for 1min30secs. Remove from microwave and pour some coconut milk in and stir thoroughly – I like my porridge slightly mushy so just add milk to the consistency you like.
Then pour over your pre prepared chia pudding and layer your favourite toppings on. I like strawberries, banana and buckwheat and some blanched almonds. Eat in 30 seconds. I’m not kidding it’s so, so tasty.
